Meet The 2012 Board
Rachel Cartwright-Vanzant, President, RN, MS, CNS, LHRM, FNC,
LNCC has over 28 years of clinical, management and consulting experience. Rachel is a legal nurse
consultant certified (LNCC), a licensed healthcare risk manager (LHRM) and holds a forensic nurse
certificate (FNC). In addition to owning a medical and legal consulting business, she is currently working on
her PhD in Public Policy and Administration: Law and Policy. An innovative educator committed to
advancing the field of nursing, Rachel has the ability to make complex concepts understandable and clinically
useful, which adds significant value to her presentations. She is a member of the National Speakers
Association and a member of the Women Speakers Association.
Rachel's nursing experience includes work in critical care, renal transplant, dialysis and surgical areas. She
has extensive experience in open-heart surgery recovery (OHSR) and was responsible for developing and
implementing an OHSR plan for a new cardiothoracic program. As a legal nurse consultant, Rachel works
with attorneys, law firms and healthcare organizations reviewing and evaluation medical records for
compliance with standards of care and applicable regulations, including The Joint Commission and Centers
of Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) requirements. She is the President of the South Florida AALNC Chapter
and has been an expert witness for medical negligence cases.
Luz (Lucy) Guadalupe, Treasurer, RN, LHRM, LNCC works as a full time
independent legal nurse consultant and is the owner of LDG Associates, INC. She has been involved in the
legal nurse consulting business since 1995 and became certified in the field in 1998. She has been involved
with the South Florida Chapter of AALNC as well as National AALNC since 1993 and has served on the
Board at the local level in various positions from 1997 through 2003.
